Every
tray I craft begins with a slab of black walnut—rich, warm, and full of
character. I follow the grain carefully, letting the wood guide the
shape and feel of the finished piece. Through the center, a vibrant
ribbon of colored epoxy flows like a winding river, capturing movement
and depth within stillness.
As
a partially disabled U.S. veteran, woodworking became more than a craft
for me—it’s a way to create beauty with my hands and quiet my mind.
Each pour, sand, and polish is a patient process, revealing the organic
patterns that make every tray completely unique.
Once complete, I add handcrafted black walnut and brass handles—a
balance of strength and refinement. The entire surface is sealed
beneath a crystal-clear epoxy finish, giving it a smooth, glass-like
sheen that protects and enhances the wood’s natural tones.
This
tray isn’t just for serving food; it’s meant to serve as a reminder of
resilience, creativity, and the simple beauty that comes from working
with nature’s materials.
